As are we all, Mr. Morris. Impossible to believe that a country that only recently elected (and RE-elected!) George Bush pulled this off. For the first time in my adult life, I can actually say I'm proud to be an American. God bless us, every one.

i'm new to your site and first want to say hello to you and thank you for the wonderful information you are sharing here!

reading about sparky at evenmorris.com/sparky evoked powerful feelings in me. my wife and i have been blessed to be the care-takers of many sweet cat lives. most have lived to ripe old ages, but... "stuff" happens.

we have a cat, punim, who has owned us and the household since she moved in. for 12 years she has followed me from room to room, when she wants to ride my shoulders, she gets up on the table and hollers at me... in short, she has us well-trained.

punim has kidney failure. there is no cure. we have been giving her subcutaneous fluids for well over a year (and 5mg of pepcid), and as long as she is alert and playful (and not uncomfortable), we will see that she continues to have the best life she can.

your writings about sparky have reinforced a concept i had hoped i knew: gratitude. (apparently i need reminders.) i am very grateful that we have punim. she has brought us the special joy that i see in the hearts of happy parents of human children. we have no children; our cats are our children.

i know i will be angry and hurt and a lot of things when punim does leave us, but you've helped me. reading what you have written about sparky reinforces the fact that none of us is alone. this is a shared world, a shared life, and a shared human experience. thank you!

I'm terribly sorry to hear about Sparky's death. It sounds like he was a very exceptional friend and companion, and I'm sure that he had a good and happy life. He lived out his days knowing he was loved, certainly. Could any one of us ask for more?

Looks just like our crew this afternoon, except that when Charlie, Eddie, CocoPuff, Mr. GoodKitty and Spike conked out on the couch, I was the bottom layer. Nice day for a nap.
